A mix of black grapes, with some “round” white grapes

Altura Rosso Saverio

  • Rosso Saverio is made from a mix of many red grape varieties, all fermenting together—a traditional, ancient field blend from the island. The main varieties include Sangioveses, Grenaches, Malvasias, Moscato Neros, Trebbianos, Vermentino Neros, and a few others in smaller quantities. The grapes are harvested at different stages of ripeness and left to rest in the shade, dehydrating slightly. Once ready, they’re crushed together and fermented whole, skins and stems included.
  • What makes this Rosso Saverio unique is its extended time on the skins. Even after fermentation is complete, it is not racked but left to rest with its skins for several months.
  • This wine can age for a very long time. Ideally, it should be left to mature as much as possible, but after just a couple of years, it already starts to reveal its depth.
  • A classic red full-bodied, rich with flavor and mystery.
